Editorial Policies

Editorial Policies

Advanced Virology follows the editorial policies of publishers, which should be read for further details.

Authorship

The Biol understands that authorship comes with benefits (such as rights, recognition, and credit) and responsibilities (such as being accountable for the work). The Biol follows the authorship guidelines provided by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Every manuscript submitted should include a statement outlining each author’s contributions. Those who contributed to the work but did not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in the acknowledgements section.

All authors must ensure that anyone who meets the authorship criteria is clearly and accurately listed as an author. The Biol expects the published author list to reflect each person’s contributions properly. The journal reserves the right to request confirmation that all authors meet the authorship criteria.

The corresponding author should serve as the main contact between the editor and the other authors, keep co-authors updated, and involve them in important decisions regarding the publication.

The group should be listed with individual authors in the manuscript for consortium or group authorship. If the group retains authorship, it should be listed as an author. However, if individual authors present the work on behalf of the group, the group will not be listed as an author. A note should clarify that the work is presented on behalf of the group or consortium.

Changes in authorship

Journal editors deal with requests for changes to authorship, which must be directed via the principal contact listed. Editors will handle such requests according to the relevant COPE guidelines. Typically, each case of changes in authorship will be decided on its merit, and the requesting author(s) have to provide valid reasons. Changes in authorship, including addition, removal, or reordering of the authors’ list, must require all authors, including any to be removed, to agree to such change(s) in writing. Changes in authorship post-publication may or may not require a published correction.

Editors and journal staff as authors

Editors, editorial board members, or any other staff member of The Biol are not allowed to be involved in editorial decisions or handling submissions when they are authors or have contributed to a manuscript.

Redundant publication (dual submission or publication)

The Biol does not accept previously published manuscripts or process submissions simultaneously submitted to another journal. Suspicious or alleged cases of redundant publication are investigated thoroughly by journal editors according to COPE guidelines. Journal managers record all communications among editors, authors, and reviewers and store these records safely for a considerable time. Such communication records may be used in investigations of alleged misconduct. Investigations to identify cases of redundant publications and/or outcomes of such investigations may trigger contact and cooperation with other authors’ publishers, journals, and parent organizations.

The journal seeks to apply scientific rigor to the study of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modalities, particularly traditional Asian healing systems. The Biol emphasizes health outcome, while documenting biological mechanisms of action. The journal is devoted to the advancement of science in the field of basic research, methodology or scientific theory in diverse areas of Biomedical Sciences. The journal does not consider articles on homeopathy.
