Open Access Policy

Open Access Policy

The Biol is a completely open-access journal. This means it makes its content immediately available to everyone, based on the idea that sharing research freely with the public helps increase global knowledge exchange.

Articles published in The Biol are made available worldwide immediately under an open-access license (with no waiting period). Users can freely access the full Text without any cost or limits and reuse the material as long as they properly cite the original article. The open-access model is supported by a relatively low Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted articles, paid by the author(s) or their funder, institution, or employer.

Important Note: Some articles in The Biol may include figures, tables, or Text from other publications for which The Biol doesn’t own the copyright or have the right to license. Please contact the original copyright holder (usually the original publisher or authors) to ask if you can reuse that material.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Open-access publishing is not without costs. The Biol, therefore, requires the author(s) or their funder/institution/employer to pay an article-processing charge (APC) of 300$. for each article accepted for publication, plus VAT or local taxes where applicable.

The Biol does not charge any fees for submitting articles or for the length of the papers. Article Processing Charges (APCs) are only due after a manuscript is accepted but before publication. Editorial decisions are completely independent and are not affected by the payment of APCs. For more information, you can check our APC policy.

Once an article is accepted, the corresponding author will be informed that payment is required and will receive instructions on completing it. We only accept bank transfers, and the payer is responsible for any bank fees.
